5 reasons to buy a 6-inch smartphone

First of all, let’s tell you why choosing a 6-inch smartphone is a good decision:

1) Convenience

The way we use our smartphones nowadays is as much about personal use as it is about professional use. So if you’re going to answer an email or send a WhatsApp, you’ll find it more comfortable to do so with a larger screen where the keyboard is more visible.

2) Durability

These smartphones are larger and therefore tend to have more features, including longer battery life. Larger batteries take up more space. So your battery will last much longer without needing to be charged.

3) Eye protection

With a larger screen, everything looks better, and you don’t have to strain your eyes. This is perhaps the most important from an eye health point of view. The 6-inch screens are large enough to allow you to view your content much better without straining your eyes.

4) Viewing content

The larger the screen, the better you can view videos, documents or files on it. In addition to not straining your eyes, the viewing experience of content such as YouTube, Netflix and many others will be much more rewarding and enjoyable.

5) Image fluency

In line with the above aspect, on a 6-inch screen you can see every detail clearer and sharper, so you’ll get a better gaming experience and a better performance. If you’re a mobile gamer, it’s certainly a convenient screen size.

Ranking: the best 6-inch smartphones

Now that you know why you should opt for a 6-inch smartphone, let’s analyse 5 of the best models on the market in terms of value for money:

1) Oppo A74: beautification based on Artificial Intelligence

We begin our analysis by talking about a smartphone that belongs to the brand that has most recently burst onto the scene, Oppo. The screen of this smartphone is 6.4 inches, and has a Full HD+ resolution, with AMOLED technology.

If we look at the processor, we find the Snapdragon 662, which allows you to store up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. The battery, also 5,000 mAh, can be charged quickly with a 33 watt system, with which you can recharge 54% of the battery in half an hour…

And the cameras? We would like to highlight the triple camera: a 48 MP main camera, a 2 MP depth camera and a 2 MP macro lens. The front camera, meanwhile, is 16 MP. The cameras integrate a beautification system based on Artificial Intelligence, which is very interesting for your own photographic content.

Finally, like the rest of its competitors, it has a fingerprint sensor and NFC technology to enable contactless payments.

2) Samsung Galaxy A72: high quality rear cameras

The next smartphone to feature in our review is the highest priced of the four, which already leads us to assume that its performance will be excellent.

The first thing we look at is its 6.7-inch Infinity-O display with Super AMOLED FHD+ technology. Also, the screen offers a brightness of 800 nits, and features Eye Comfort Shield and Real Smooth technology, which reduce blue light and improve the image even if you’re playing games or surfing the internet.

And as for the cameras, we see a total of four: the 64MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and two 5MP cameras, one macro and one depth camera. Plus, of course, the front camera.

The RAM memory is 6 GB, while the internal storage capacity is 128 GB. As far as the battery is concerned, this smartphone also comes with the option of fast charging, thanks to the 25 watts of power it offers.

Finally, it is worth mentioning another series of features, such as IP67 protection, which certifies water resistance even if it is submerged to a depth of 1 metre. The main drawback of this model is its price, which is much higher than that of its rivals. It does, however, come with Samsung’s own quality guarantee.

3) LG Q60: compatible with DTS sound system

We begin our comparison by explaining the features of the LG Q60, which is the simplest of the five phones. It has a 6.2-inch display, with FullVision format and HD+ resolution.

Performance is measured, in part, by the processor in the smartphone. This model features the 2GHz Octa-core processor, although the model is unknown, which supports up to 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. However, the storage can be expanded with an external card with a maximum capacity of 2 TB.

Another important aspect is the cameras, especially if you are one of those who can’t stop taking photos and videos. On the other hand, the LG Q60 has three cameras with a lower resolution than the models from Samsung and Xiaomi.

The main camera is 16MP, backed up by a 5MP wide-angle camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The front camera, meanwhile, is not bad at all, with a resolution of 13 MP.

Other notable features include a fingerprint reader, support for the DTS:X 3D sound system as well as Surround and military certification, which other LG models also have.

4) Xiaomi Redmi Note 11: technology to enliven colour intensity

Xiaomi could not be missing in a comparison of smartphones with a good price-performance ratio, and here it is. Specifically, with a smartphone from Xiaomi’s Redmi Note range, and it is characterised by the excellent value for money that we are used to from this brand.

The screen is 6.43 inches, and is Full HD+ with AMOLED DotDisplay technology. Also, the DCI-P3 Wide Color Gamut technology makes the intensity of the colours more intense. It is powered by the 6nm Snapdragon 680 processor, which helps to optimise the power consumption of the phone.

On the other hand, it has up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Dual speakers and a 33-watt fast-charging option are the features that round out this exciting feature set.

In terms of cameras, a quad-camera system consisting of a 50MP AI-enabled main camera, an 8MP wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor is the highlight.

We dare say, however, that the most interesting thing about this smartphone is its price, which is well below what the level of functionality suggests.

5) Motorola Moto E7 Plus: Android 10.0 operating system

We close this set of mobiles with one of the brands with the most experience and track record in the world of mobiles. And, surely, one of the ones that evokes the most memories.

The Motorola Moto E7 Plus has a 6.5-inch LCD screen with HD+ resolution. In this case, the processor included is the Snapdragon 460, which provides 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB internal memory. The operating system it integrates is Android 10.0, and it is also equipped with a fingerprint recognition sensor.

In terms of cameras, it is the weakest smartphone of the five, as it only has a dual camera consisting of a 48 MP main lens and a 2 MP secondary lens. The 8 MP front camera completes the set. Finally, it is worth noting the good battery performance of 5,000 mAh.

Conclusion: Which is the best 6-inch smartphone?

The truth is that it is difficult to state categorically that one smartphone is better or worse than another. This conclusion depends, almost always, on the subjective and personal criteria of each person, as well as the priorities and needs that we have.

Our opinion is that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 is the best value for money. The screen has Full HD+ resolution and AMOLED DotDisplay technology, which guarantees very high brightness and colour intensity. In addition, the quad-camera system with Artificial Intelligence convinces us.

If the Xiaomi doesn’t convince you, another highly recommended option is the Oppo model. The Chinese company has burst onto the market thanks to the good performance of devices such as this smartphone, which combines higher features, such as Full HD+ resolution and ample storage capacity, at a price that is typical of more basic smartphones.

The most important thing is that you have your needs well identified, as the importance you give to each aspect will depend on them. For example, one of the most subjective elements that can change your entire decision is your budget limit.

As you can see, there is quite a difference in price between the Samsung Galaxy A72 and the rest, which remain in the mid-range of between 200 and 350 euros. The truth is that, although it has the Samsung quality guarantee, in practice the differences with respect to its rivals are not so great.

As for the LG and Motorola smartphones, they are the ones with the smallest screens, and may be insufficient if you are going to use the phone for work.
