One of the leading companies in the Smart TV market is LG, which has just announced new models continuing the main ranges. One of them is the one we analyse in this review: LG C3 vs C2. This is one of the most popular ranges, so we are very interested in knowing what are the most important differences between the new model and the previous one to determine whether or not it is worth upgrading to the new model. We’ll tell you all about it, below.

LG C3 vs C2: Key differences
We start by analysing the aspects in which our two protagonists differ:
Embedded operating system
In line with the previous point, another aspect where LG has updated is the operating system. The LG C3 incorporates the webOS 23 system, whose graphical interface has been revamped. It also includes new functions for synchronising with other devices, and has a new function whereby the sound and image can be adjusted quickly.
The LG C2, on the other hand, has the webOS22 operating system, an older version which is not bad, although the new smart TV has updated it.
Sound system
One of the features that the upgraded processor brings with it is two new sound-related functions. Specifically, adaptive control and automatic balance. In addition, the LG C3 TV comes with Wowcast Orchestra technology, which creates a more immersive environment thanks to better synchronisation with the soundbars.
What processor do they have?
The new model, LG C3, upgrades the processor of the previous model, the C2. Therefore, we are moving from the Alpha a9 Gen 5 chip to Gen 6, which translates into better image processing. However, the difference is not so great that the change is obvious. There seems to be a slight improvement in brightness, although perhaps less than initially expected.
There is also a slight improvement in internal storage capacity from 2GB to 3GB of RAM as a result of the processor upgrade.
Quick Media Switching functionality
One of the new features found in the LG C3 is the Quick Media Switching function, thanks to which we can automatically adapt the frame rate and refresh rate. As a result, there are fewer harmful effects when there is an abrupt transition in the images.
LG C3 vs C2: What do they have in common?
In this section, we tell you what the main similarities are between the two TVs:
Similar design
If we look at the design, the truth is that there are no major differences between the two TVs. The LG C3 Smart TV has a similar design to the C2, except that it is slightly lighter. Otherwise, it continues with LG’s signature thin-edge aesthetics.
Available screen sizes
LG’s smart TVs are usually available in several sizes to choose from, and in this case, they are no exception. So, both LG C3 and LG C2 are available in the following sizes: 42, 48, 55, 65, 77 and 83 inches. Obviously, the price will vary depending on the size.
The technology is OLED
Another important similarity is the picture technology, which in both cases is OLED. In this sense, the picture quality performance is very similar because the technology is the same.
Connectivity and input ports
From a connectivity point of view, there are no changes to highlight either. Both TVs have 4 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, optical input, WiFi connection and Bluetooth 5.0 support.
LG C3 vs C2: Do we recommend LG’s new Smart TV?
Once we have analysed the common and differential elements, it’s time to choose which one to go for. However, it will be crucial to know the selling price once it is marketed, so for the moment, we will stick to the technical aspects that we already know.
And, from that point of view, we have to admit that there is little innovation in the LG C3 with respect to the C2 model. At least, less than we expected. There is some improvement in processing power and brightness, but there are no groundbreaking features as was the case with the C1 and C2.
It’s true that we’ll have to wait and see what the final retail price is. If there is not much difference, we could consider buying the LG C3 TV directly. But, if the difference is high, we don’t think it’s worth opting for the new model.
