Realme GT3 vs GT2: What’s similar?
We start by talking about all the aspects they have in common, which is not surprising considering that they are from the same brand:
Aesthetics and design
At first glance, Realme has not implemented much new in terms of design. In fact, both models have the same dimensions and the same weight, and in both cases, the brand opts for a design with hardly any edges and, on the back, the cameras are located on the left side.
This is unchanged on the GT3, so aesthetically, it is very reminiscent of its predecessor. The only difference is that the GT2 is also available in green, as well as black and white. The Realme GT3 also features an LED light halo next to the cameras, surrounding the processor.
Technology: sensors and connectivity
In terms of connectivity options, both smartphones feature 5G, WiFi and NFC technology, which enables contactless payments. They also offer GPS, Glonass and Bluetooth connectivity options, although the version is 5.3 on the GT3 and 5.2 on the GT2.
In terms of sensors, both smartphones have a fingerprint sensor just below the screen, a temperature, light and proximity sensor.
Basic operating system
Both smartphones run the Android 13 operating system under Realme UI 4.0, which means that in both cases we have access to the same set of applications to choose from.
Front camera resolution
One of the similarities between the two smartphones is that they both have a 16 MP selfie camera with a recording capacity of 30 frames per second, so there are no major differences between them.
Realme GT3 vs GT2: Differential points
Now, once we have defined the similarities, we continue to analyse the most relevant differences between the two models:
Battery innovations
Admittedly, when it comes to the battery, we’re a bit lost. The Realme GT3 has a 4600mAh battery, which is slightly less than the 5000mAh capacity of the Realme GT2.
However, the fast charge is 240 watts, much higher than the GT2’s 65 watts, and this is one of the GT3’s great strengths. To give you an idea, a 240 watt fast charge allows us to charge it to 100% in less than 10 minutes. So the GT3 has slightly less battery capacity, although in practice it’s hard to notice because the difference isn’t substantial, but it does charge more quickly.
How the screen changes
One of the most important elements in a smartphone is the screen, because it’s where we operate any action. The Realme GT3 has a 6.74-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. The maximum brightness it achieves is 1400 nits.
In contrast, we see some differences in the Realme GT2, which has a 6.62-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a maximum brightness of 1300 nits. Realme has therefore improved the screen of its GT model not only in size, but above all in brightness, so that images are reproduced more vividly.
Processor type and performance
The Realme GT3 has the integrated eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, while the Realme GT2 has the eight-core Snapdragon 888 as well. The practical difference between the two is that the new processor, being upgraded, offers better performance in speed and image processing.
However, when it comes to data storage, both have the capacity to store 8 or 12 GB of RAM.
Rear camera resolution
Cameras are one of the most important elements in the final decision, because they are so frequently used for any content nowadays. And, to tell the truth, the differences in this respect are minimal, but it is worth highlighting them.
Both smartphones have a 50 MP main rear camera, although it is not exactly the same, as the one on the Realme GT3 has a larger focal aperture.
They also have an 8 MP wide-angle lens, but in this case the field of view is larger on the GT2. Finally, the third camera is a 2 MP microscopic lens on the Realme GT3 and a 5 MP macro lens on the Realme GT2.
Infrared sensor
Another new feature that Realme has introduced in its GT3 is the infrared sensor with which the phone can act as a remote control if you want to change any parameters on other devices, such as the air conditioning or TV. In addition, this phone has an LED light on the back, an aesthetic novelty compared to its predecessor.
Realme GT3 vs GT2: The best Realme smartphone is…
Having compared the features of both smartphones, it’s worth noting that we were expecting a more disruptive design in the new model, but Realme has opted for a fairly continuist trend. However, there are some areas in which it has taken a step forward and has implemented some important improvements.
The one that has surprised us the most is the fast charging of the Realme GT3, which multiplies the speed of the previous model by 4. And it really is, in less than 10 minutes we have the mobile fully charged, which seems to us a real advance for the development of our day to day life, work, etc.
We also noticed some improvement in the brightness of the screen, which is slightly larger, and in data processing, although in these cases it is more difficult to notice the difference. The Realme GT3’s microscopic camera is another new feature compared to its predecessor, with a macro lens.
In all other respects, these are two similar smartphones. We’ll have to wait and see what price the Realme GT3 comes out at, because that will also be a decisive factor in deciding whether it’s worth choosing the new model or sticking with the old one. In general, though, we’d say that if you already have the Realme GT2, it’s not worth switching. But, if you are hesitating and don’t know which one to choose, it might be interesting to opt for the new model.
