Hisense 40A4K vs CHiQ Smart TV LED L40G7: What aspects do they share?

Let’s start by looking at the commonalities between the two Smart TVs in our review:

Sound: quality technologies

In addition to the image, sound is also important in a television. It is worth noting that both models have two output speakers that, although they do not have the same power, the difference is hardly noticeable. In fact, the Hisense TV has two 7-watt speakers, while the CHiQ’s two speakers are 8 watts. As you can see, a really minimal difference.

Also, the Hisense has DTS:X technology, while its rival has DBX technology. They are different, but the result is the same: a more immersive sound, and very similar in both cases.

Screen resolution

As usual, the two brands have models in different sizes, but the two we’ve chosen in this case have a 40-inch and 32-inch size. So you won’t need to find a different location or space for them, they occupy a similar space in your living room.

According to resolution, it is also the same; in this case, 1920 x 1080 pixels, so it is Full HD resolution. In fact, it is the minimum resolution that is usually demanded nowadays, given the ever-increasing advances in this regard.

Also, in both cases we see a bezel-less design, which increases the feeling of screen width.

Connecting to applications and devices

Both televisions can be connected to applications such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ or Youtube, to watch all the content you like. Both can also be synchronised with Google’s virtual assistant if you already have it integrated in your home automation system.

On the other hand, the two televisions can be connected via Bluetooth or WiFi, so as far as connectivity is concerned, there are no major differences either.

Value for money

Finally, it is worth mentioning that, in this case, the economic criterion will not be a major deciding factor. In fact, both models have practically the same price, which may vary depending on the offers available, but the range in which they move is very similar.

Hisense 40A4K vs CHiQ Smart TV LED L40G7: How do the two Smart TVs differ?

Once we’ve identified the commonalities, we’ll tell you what the most important differences are between the two smart TVs:

Processor type

One element that changes between the two smart TV models is the processor. In the case of Hisense, we find a Quad Core/MT9602 processor, based on the VIDAA operating system. The CHiQ smart TV, on the other hand, has a MediaTek processor with a 4-core A55 CPU and a dual-core GPU. In this case, the operating system is Android 11.

Display modes and technologies

It is not uncommon to find, in Smart TVs, different specific technologies to enhance different types of images or content. In the case of our two protagonists, the Hisense model offers a wider variety, thanks to technologies such as Game Mode and Sports Mode, which enhance contrasts and the most appropriate tonalities in each case to offer a more intense user experience.

In all fairness, however, the CHiQ Smart TV’s direct LED technology is a very positive feature. Thanks to this, the edges are directly illuminated by LED lights that are spaced at regular intervals. This makes the light distribution more even across the entire screen.

Different viewing angles

Although the screen of both smart TVs have the same dimensions and resolution, there is one thing that differs, and that is the viewing angle. This is the maximum angle at which, if we watch TV, we can see the images correctly. In the Hisense model, the angle is 178º, while the CHiQ Smart TV offers a slightly lower angle of 170º.

HDR10 support

The HDR10 format is a High Dynamic Range technology standard. This means that televisions with HDR10 are able to reproduce images more realistically, because the dynamic range of light and colours is wider and therefore also the correspondence to reality.

Thus, this technology allows for more contrast between bright and dark frames, between which the transition is smoother because there are more colours in between that are reproduced.

In this regard, it is worth noting that only CHiQ’s television includes HDR10, unlike Hisense’s, which does not have this technology.

Finally, all that’s left is to decide which model to choose. Bearing in mind that both Smart TVs are entry-level and have a fairly similar price, the truth is that we are not entirely clear about the decision, as we see lights and shadows in both cases.

On the one hand, we are more convinced by the CHiQ’s Android 11 operating system than Hisense’s VIDAA, and we find it interesting that this TV has HDR10 technology. In fact, we’re surprised that the Hisense model doesn’t have HDR10.

On the other hand, however, we also find the various technologies and specific picture display modes offered by Hisense very interesting. In addition, the viewing angle is wider.

When it comes to technical issues such as resolution or screen size, they are evenly matched. Therefore, we are looking at two models that are really evenly matched and between which the final decision comes down to small details. In this sense, our best advice is to think about what are the most important aspects for you and, based on them, choose the one that best fits.
