This was the question we asked ourselves when we saw that Tepro vs Kesser were two of the best-selling and most popular portable barbecues on Amazon. Therefore, we have analysed them in detail to see what are the differences and similarities between them, and to know which one we would choose. The conclusions, we admit, have surprised us a lot, and that’s why we want to share them with you. Our aim is to give you the information you need to decide whether to choose the Tepro or the Kesser barbecue.
As you can imagine, there are multiple models available from both brands. In this comparison, I am going to show you the ones I like the most, as well as the differences and similarities between them. Of course, it’s important that you know what your preferences are, because only then will you be able to check which one meets them better. Let’s get started!

Tepro and Kesser: same country, different story
The first thing we are going to do is to give an overview of the two barbecue brands we are going to talk about later on. And, at first glance, we are surprised by the hermetic nature of one of them.
Tepro is a German company specialising in the manufacture of various outdoor products such as barbecues, grills, smokers, fire pits and related accessories. The company has been in operation for several decades and has established itself as a leading brand in the European market.
Tepro’s barbecue products are known for their build quality, functionality and innovative features. They offer a wide range of barbecues, such as charcoal grills, gas grills, electric grills and pellet grills, which suit different preferences and cooking styles. Tepro’s barbecues are designed to provide an enjoyable outdoor cooking experience for both amateurs and experienced grillers.
Kesser, on the other hand, is a much more hermetic brand. Still, it offers a variety of barbecue products, including grills, smokers and related accessories. However, specific information about Kesser’s origin and history is limited. Indeed, what little we know is that it started its activity in 2002, also in Germany, and that it has opted for a strategy of little expansion, but a much more localised market.
Tepro vs. Kesser: Outstanding similarities
In this section, we analyse all the similarities between the two barbecues we have selected:
Design and aesthetics
We have to admit that, aesthetically, it has been difficult to differentiate at first glance between the two barbecues, since they follow a very similar line. In fact, they have the same height and width, the only thing that changes is the depth.
In addition, the two models have the same layout: a central barbecue with a side table and a lower support. And, as if that were not enough, the design of the barbecue lid itself is practically the same.
Finally, it is worth noting that both barbecues have a lid, so you can condense the heat much more and prevent smoke from escaping if you prefer.
Integrated thermometer
On both barbecues we can see a roundel in the central part of the lid, which is nothing more than a built-in thermometer. This accessory allows us to check at what temperature the inside of the barbecue is kept at all times, and we can check if we have to open the lid to prevent the food from burning, or if it is OK.
Side table
As we have already mentioned, both barbecues have a side table that can be folded up, which is very useful for placing the utensils and ingredients that you are going to use. This accessory is accompanied by a few hooks on which you can place a mitten, for example.
In case you do not have enough space, it is worth remembering that both of them also have a tray located at the bottom, which is very useful for placing plates, for example.
Integrated bottle opener
Admittedly, one of the things we liked the most is that both barbecues have a built-in bottle opener, allowing us to enjoy a good beer while we wait for the food to cook.
Same charcoal capacity
Another similarity that both barbecues share is that they have a 1.35 kg charcoal compartment, so they have the same capacity. Not surprising, considering that the dimensions are practically the same. However, you can also use wood if you prefer to use charcoal instead.
Tepro vs Kesser: All the differences
Now that you have a more general idea about the origin and history of each brand and their similarities, it’s time to look at what the differences are. As the range of barbecues they have is very wide, we are going to focus on two of the most demanded models today on Amazon, with similar features between them. We are talking about Tepro Toronto Click vs Kesser Grill. Are you ready? Here we go!
Number of grids
The Tepro Toronto Click has two enamelled grill grids, while the Kesser Grill only has one. In practice, this means that you can cook more different foods at the same time on the Tepro, because it has different surfaces so that they don’t get mixed up. For example, very useful if you want to cook vegetables and meat at the same time.
Grill surface
This difference in the grids has another indirect consequence, and that is that the space available on the grill is not the same. Actually, it is, because they have the same dimensions, but it is used differently.
The Tepro Toronto Click has a grill area of 41.5 x 27.5 cm, but double. That is to say, this is the size of each of the two grids. The Kesser Grill, on the other hand, has a cooking surface of 56 x 41.5 cm, as it only has a single grid.
Price
In any other comparison, the price difference between the Tepro Toronto Click and the Kesser Grill would be treated as a similarity. But, considering that, in this case, we are looking at two virtually identical grills, any difference, however small, is worth noting.
And, in this case, if we do not take into account the economic offers, the Kesser is cheaper than the Tepro. However, as we have said, it is not a difference that has any real relevance in the purchase decision.
Tepro vs Kesser: Which barbecue is more useful?
We have already checked all the features, differences and similarities between Tepro and Kesser, so it’s time to make a decision. It should be noted that this will depend on your preferences, so I’m going to give you my personal opinion, but it is important that you are clear about your priorities.
From my point of view, the Tepro Toronto Click has an advantage that makes me choose it, and that is that I find it more comfortable and versatile to cook with two grills than with one. I feel that it makes better use of space, and that we can combine and cook different products at the same time, something that is more difficult with the Kesser Grill.
However, you can see that we are practically talking about the same barbecue, because in everything else we have not been able to find any relevant differences. Therefore, the decision as to which of the two is more interesting will come down to whether you prefer to have one or two grills. On the other hand, you can rest assured that since they are so similar, the performance will be very similar in both cases.
