We want to settle this once and for all: which one of these robots from Roborock, the chinese brand with ties to Xiaomi, is the most intelligent?
Both the Roborock S5 Max and the Roborock S6 MaxV are having a great deal of success and approval from their respective customers, so we thought it would be interesting to compare them and find out which one has the best technology and artificial intelligence, besides their amazing cleaning power.
Join us while we check their differences and similarities, to reach a surprising (or maybe not so much) conclusion at the end.

OK, what are the main differences between the Roborock S5 Max and the S6 MaxV?
1) Do they use a navigation system to move around?
A long time has passed since the first robot vacuum cleaners came around, bumping against walls, furniture, legs, and so on. Nowadays, any model above a certain level uses some kind of technology to “look around” and move through your house without major incidents.
Both these models include laser navigation, called LiDAR, and are able to create interactive maps of your house that will help them become aware of their position and will let you adjust certain parameters.
In addition, the S6 MaxV also has two built-in cameras that are needed for the Reactive AI system, a creation from Roborock. This makes the robot much smarter by being able to recognise different objects and make decisions accordingly.
2) The extremely important suction power
We can’t ignore the feature that’s probably the most important in a robot cleaner (even though it has no relation to its intelligence). It’s a clear win for the Roborock S6 MaxV, with 2.500 Pascals of power, against the 2.000 Pascals of the Roborock S5 MaxV. We should add, in any case, that both still make for a great suction power.

3) Can they create and store maps of the house?
Yes, both these robots can store the maps they create and those are accessible from the app, but while the S6 MaxV can store up to 4, the S5 Max can only store 3 maps.
4) How long does the battery last?
Again, the S6 MaxV takes the lead, with an operating time of 180 minutes, against the 150 minutes that the S5 Max can work without recharging.
5) How much do they cost?
If you read the previous points, you won’t be surprised to know that the S6 MaxV is more expensive than the Roborock S5 Max.
Now, what do these robots, the Roborock S5 Max and S6 MaxV, have in common?
1) Can they do more than one thing?
These are multitasking robots that can vacuum, sweep, scrub and mop the floor, so you’ll get value for money with any one you choose.
2) How much dirt or water can they carry?
They have two separate tanks: one for the dirt, that can carry up to 460 ml (this is valid for both models); other for water, for the mopping feature, that can carry 290 ml, in the case of the S5 Max, and 297 ml in the case of the Roborock S6 MaxV.

3) How about the app? Do they use WiFi to operate?
Definitely. They have to be connected to your home network in order to be controlled with the app on your mobile phone. You’ll be able to start, pause and resume, schedule cleaning sessions, and much more.
4) Can they mop intelligently?
In a way, they can. You can also control this feature from the app, adjusting the flow of water to the mop, defining areas to avoid or setting the mopping in motion.
5) Can they create interactive maps?
Sure, and those maps can be used to micromanage what the robots do: set the order of the rooms to be cleaned, block some area of your house or choose just one place to clean.
6) You can control them with your voice
This is a great feature that can only be used if you have Alexa or Google Home at your place. If you do, just set it up and you’ll be able to make them go with nothing but your voice.
7) The Recharge and Resume feature
A feature that will guarantee that the robots will finish their tasks, even if they run out of battery. They’ll get back to the charging station and then resume the process where they left off.
Do we have an answer for our question about which robot’s smarter? Is it the Roborock S5 Max or the Roborock S6 MaxV?
If we look at the differences between these two models, the answer becomes more apparent.
While the Roborock S5 Max is still an amazing vacuum, able to multitask, to use laser technology to navigate around your place and to create precise maps that you can use to manage the cleaning sessions, its intelligence is no match for the Roborock S6 MaxV.
This more recent model includes Reactive AI technology, a fantastic improvement for robot vacuum cleaners in general. It allows the robot to move with clear directions, recognising and avoiding objects. Knowing this, it’s no surprise that the price is somewhat higher than the S5 Max’s.
In short, if you want the smartest, go for the S6 MaxV; if you prefer to save some money and still get a top notch robot vacuum, the S5 Max is a good bet.
