Although Dyson has managed to position itself as a benchmark in the hoover market, it has done so even more strongly among cordless hoovers. The level of in-house developed technology, high quality materials and ease of use make Dyson vacuums hard to beat. To prove it, we analyse two of its flagship models: Dyson V10 Vs V11. We encourage you to continue reading our review if you want to know their differences!

Similarities between the Dyson V10 and V11 hoovers
We start by looking at the commonalities between the two models, where their performance is almost identical:
1) Cyclonic technology: filter reinforcement
Both models in our review feature Dyson’s Root Cyclone technology, which incorporates 14 concentrically positioned cyclones that keep harmful particles separated from the air emitted by centrifugal force. In this way, you will avoid coming into contact with them.
2) Accessories: varied, but not the same
This is one of the points where there are similarities, but also differences. The Dyson V10 Vs V11 do not come with the same accessories, but both are equipped with a good set of accessories that increase their efficiency.
They are not the same accessories, but both are very well equipped. For example, the Dyson V10 has a direct-drive brush with nylon bristles and a motor inside the brush bar. It also has a rotating soft brush, a small motorised brush and a smaller soft brush.
The Dyson V11 has a High Torque brush with Dynamic Load Sensor (DLS) technology, which automatically adjusts power according to the type of surface. It also features a small power brush, soft brush with rotating brush head, narrow nozzle and small soft brush.
3) Tank volume: above average
Another factor where you won’t find any changes is the tank volume. The tank of both hoovers has the same capacity of 760 ml.
Considering that the average for cordless hoovers is around 500 ml, this is not bad at all. They also both have a simple and hygienic emptying system.
4) Battery life: one hour
Both hoovers offer a battery life of approximately 60 minutes in Eco mode. Note that this will be reduced if you increase the power speed or use any of the motorised attachments.
On the other hand, the Dyson V11 takes an hour longer to charge than the Dyson V10, and both can be charged by attaching the base to the wall.
5) Versatility: triple use
Either Dyson model will be useful if you need to clean different surfaces, such as your home, office or car. Both convert to upright and handheld hoovers, multiplying their versatility of use in different locations and rooms.
6) Filtration system: maximum efficiency
Finally, you already know that both hoovers feature cyclonic technology. This reinforces the complete filtration system they share, which enables them to retain 99.99% of particles down to 0.3 microns. So either is suitable for allergy sufferers.
Dyson V10 Vs V11: the difference between them
Now it’s time to check which features make one of the two models stand out from the other, as it’s the differences that are most likely to clarify your decision.
1) Price: the Dyson V11 stands out from the crowd
Users are already used to seeing higher prices for Dyson products, but even between them, the differences are considerable.
The Dyson V11 is around 40% more expensive than the V10, but it has features that its rival lacks.
To give you an idea, without bargains, the Dyson V11 is priced at around £690, compared to £500 for the Dyson V10.
2) Suction power: a quantum leap in quality
There’s no doubt that Dyson is synonymous with suction power. And, in this case, it’s one of the main differences between the two protagonists of our review. The Dyson V10 achieves a suction power of 151 airWatts, while the Dyson V11 goes up to 220 aW. In both cases you can adjust the power in 3 levels.
3) LCD display: V11 only
Hoovers with a digital display tend to be more attractive, because they look more techie. This is the case with the Dyson V11, the first Dyson model to include an LCD screen on which you can check the battery status, power mode and fault warnings.
4) Noise: little difference
We can’t say that the difference in terms of acoustic power is very noticeable. In both cases the hoover is equipped with a noise reduction mechanism built into the motor. However, the Dyson V11 achieves around 84 decibels compared to 87 decibels for the V10.
5) Versions available: change the name
Users who have owned other hoovers will know that brands often launch different versions of each model, or name them differently. In the case of the Dyson V11, we find the Absolut Extra model, while the V10 Cyclone is in its Absolute version. However, this may change depending on the changes and updates introduced by the brand.

Things to consider before you buy a Dyson
The penetration of this brand in the consumers’ minds is such that, in many cases, the most loyal consumers talk about “buying a Dyson” instead of “buying a hoover”. But do you know all the relevant and characteristic aspects of this company that can influence your choice?
- Tank: Dyson tanks range in capacity from 600ml to 800ml, outperforming the general average in this respect. In addition, the vast majority of Dyson cordless hoovers have a very simple mechanism for emptying the tank, which involves pressing a button and disposing of the waste directly into the bin.
- Hyperdymium motor: this is present in most Dyson hoovers, as it is a proprietary technology developed by Dyson. Its main feature is that it reaches a speed of 125,000 rpm.
- Cyclonic system: Root Cyclone is the name Dyson has chosen to refer to the cyclones incorporated in its motor, which form part of the filtration mechanism of each hoover. We recommend you look for this feature among the alternatives you choose, as it helps to keep the environment purified and improves performance.
- Suction power: Like other brands, Dyson measures the suction power of its hoovers in airWatts. Its most advanced models reach 240 airWatts, and entry-level models rarely go below 120.
- Main brush: in addition to the complementary accessories, you should know the differences between the brand’s own brushes. You can find the Direct-Drive, the High Torque or the Laser Slim Fluffy, among others. The most advanced, so far, is the Laser Slim Fluffy, belonging to the V15.
Dyson V10 Vs V11: What is our conclusion?
If we look exclusively at technical performance, the Dyson V11 wins the day. Firstly, it offers higher suction power than its rival, which is partly due to the addition of the High Torque brush, with greater automation. It also has a digital display, which the Dyson V10 lacks.
The downside is that it is a more expensive model, priced at around £700. If you can get a good deal, it’s definitely worth it. But if you can’t afford such a large budget, you might be better off with the Dyson V10.
But don’t think it’s a bad buy – on the contrary. The V10 is far superior to most other brands’ hoovers, and although it doesn’t reach the same level of excellence as the V11, it is more affordable and its performance is very satisfactory.
So think about what your needs are and you’ll know which criteria you should give more importance to.
