Dyson Airwrap Vs Dyson Corrale: How does the Dyson Corrale hair straightener stand out?
We start by focusing on the Dyson Corrale, the advanced hair straightener of which the company has also recently launched a new version. Here are its main strengths:
Cordless hair iron
Being able to take your hair straightener anywhere and use it even in the car is a real bonus. The Dyson Corrale has an important new feature compared to other hair straighteners, and that’s the option to use it cordless for half an hour. The Dyson Airwrap, on the other hand, needs to be plugged in to use, like most other hair straighteners.
Automatic shut-off
Safety is paramount when operating any electrical appliance. Another of the more advanced features you’ll only find on the Dyson Corrale is the option to automatically switch off after more than 10 minutes of inactivity.
As well as helping to maximise run time, this provides added safety, because if you forget to turn it off, it won’t stay on.
Bright and cheerful colours
Another aspect in which Dyson is easily recognisable is the aesthetics of its products. So it’s no surprise that both the Dyson Airwrap styler and the Dyson Corrale iron are available in vibrant colours.
The Airwrap is available in three combinations: nickel/copper, fuchsia/nickel and blue/copper. The Dyson Corrale is available in 5 designs: copper, purple, red, fuchsia and blue.
Digital display
The Dyson hair straightener includes slightly more high-tech features than the styler, such as a small OLED display where you can check the remaining battery level and temperature control.
Price
It’s true that neither of the two appliances is the cheapest you’ll find on the market, but that’s one of Dyson’s main hallmarks. This brand markets high quality products, but does not compete on price.
Between the two models, the Dyson Corrale has a lower price, 450-500 euros compared to 550 euros for its rival, although it is true that its versatility is less. In addition, the Dyson Airwrap is compatible with various accessories, but not all of them are included. Therefore, its price could become more expensive.
Dyson Airwrap vs Dyson Corrale: What are the most important features of the Dyson Airwrap?
As you will see below, the Dyson Airwrap is one of the best shapers we can find on the market today, as it provides totally professional results. Of course, Dyson is not a particularly cheap brand, but the quality of its products is unquestionable. These are the main features in which the styler gains weight over the iron:
4 integrated functions in 1
We’ve talked before about the benefits of the Dyson Corrale, a hair straightener with which you can also create waves and curls using specific techniques.
But the Dyson Airwrap goes further. It’s a device that can be used as a styler, straightener or hairdryer, so its versatility is much greater. The only downside is that, due to its versatility, it will take you longer to learn all the possible uses.
Also, it can be used on both wet and dry hair, whereas the Dyson Corrale is only suitable for dry hair. To this end, it is compatible with a total of 12 attachments, including a range of brushes and styling tools.
If you want to make the most of the potential of this model, it’s best to buy it with as many attachments as possible.
Coanda effect
One of the clearest improvements Dyson has made to its new generation of styler is the aerodynamic and cyclonic technology, which means it doesn’t use extreme heat to burn hair, but works on the basis of gentler hot air, but ensures the same results.
The effect of Coanda technology is combined with the Dyson V9 digital motor, so that air is used to wrap the hair around the styler or brush without burning it. To achieve this, the Dyson V9 digital motor has a 13-blade impeller rotating at up to 110,000 rpm and achieving a power output of 3.2 kPa.
Four levels of temperature control
To be perfectly fair, both the Dyson Airwrap and Dyson Corrale have a system capable of automatically controlling and regulating the heat so that it never exceeds the optimum temperature in each case.
The Dyson Airwrap measures the temperature of the airflow more than 40 times per second, never exceeding 150 degrees. In the case of the Dyson Corrale, the measurement is around 100 times per second, so temperature control is total.
Although the Dyson Corrale measures more times per second, it is the Dyson Airwrap that offers more levels of heat adjustment. In the case of the Dyson Airwrap there are 4, and in the case of the Dyson Corrale, 3 (165º, 185º and 210º). The main difference is that the Dyson Airwrap also includes a constant cool airflow.
Complete accessory kit
The multi-functionality we’ve talked about is mainly due to the range of accessories you can use. However, it’s worth explaining what types of accessories you can find when you buy the Dyson Airwrap, none of which are on the Dyson Corrale.
You can choose from five different sized styling tools, depending on the length of your hair, and six different brushes. These include a small round brush, three straightening brushes, a larger round brush and a styling brush. You can also buy the accessory designed to dry your hair.
Dyson Airwrap vs Dyson Corrale: which one should we choose?
As we always say, the purchase decision is determined by a series of variable criteria depending on the limitations and needs of each individual. So the first thing we recommend is to think about what type of product you need, depending on the health of your hair, your lifestyle and the maximum budget you have.
The Dyson Corrale is a hair straightener that can also curl, but it doesn’t provide the immense versatility of use of the Dyson Airwraper, which not only styles, but also waves, straightens and dries.
The second factor to consider is the heat technology used, and here Dyson reduces damage to the hair thanks to the enhanced Coanda effect built into the Dyson Airwrap.
It exerts a gentler heat on the hair, achieving the same results without burning it, so hair suffers less. The temperature can also be adjusted to four levels, although the appliance itself is able to control it automatically, just like the Dyson Corrale.
The hair straightener is equipped with more technological features and functionalities, such as an OLED display and automatic shut-off. It can also be used wirelessly, which makes it more mobile.
However, the aspects in which the Dyson Corrale outperforms its rival are of a more superficial nature, while the strengths of the Dyson Airwrap have a more structural implication and are therefore more relevant.
Price could be a decisive criterion, but considering that the difference is less than 100 euros, the possibility of having the same appliance that curls, straightens, waves and dries hair is more worthwhile. So, in this case, we’ll go with the Dyson Airwrap. For a little more money, you get a styler that can straighten, dry, curl and wave in one appliance.
